Swinton Prime Trailers Australia (ABN 61 826 340 915, “we”, “us”,
“our”) operates the website primetrailersaustralia.com (the “Site”) and
sells trailers, shipping containers, container pools and related
products throughout Australia. We are committed to protecting your
privacy and handling your personal information in accordance with the
Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles
(APPs).
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect,
how we use and disclose it, how you can access or correct it, and how
you can make a complaint.
1. What personal information we collect
We may collect and hold the following types of personal
information:
- Identity information: your full name, date of
birth (where required for finance applications), and proof of identity
documents (e.g. driver’s licence) where required for delivery,
registration paperwork, or finance. - Contact information: postal and delivery
addresses, email address, and phone numbers. - Transaction information: products you have
purchased or enquired about, deposits paid, invoice and tax records, and
delivery instructions. - Payment information: we do not store full credit
card or bank account details on our servers. Card payments are processed
by our PCI-DSS-compliant payment gateway. We may retain the last four
digits of a card and the transaction reference for accounting and
dispute purposes. - Vehicle and registration information: for
trailers requiring road registration, we may collect details needed to
issue compliance plates, VINs and statements of compliance. - Technical information: IP address, browser type
and version, device identifiers, pages visited, referring URL, and
approximate location (city/region). This is collected via cookies and
analytics tools — see Section 8. - Marketing preferences: your subscription status
to our newsletter or SMS marketing.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under
18.
2. How we collect personal information
We collect personal information directly from you when you:
- place an order, request a quote or pay a deposit on the Site or by
phone, email or in person; - create an account or subscribe to our newsletter;
- enquire about finance, freight, custom builds or warranty;
- contact our customer service team; or
- visit one of our yards or attend a delivery.
We may also collect information from third parties, including freight
providers, finance brokers, identity verification providers, and
government bodies (e.g. for trailer registration).
3. Why we collect, hold, use and disclose your information
We use your personal information to:
- process orders, deposits and payments and to deliver goods to
you; - provide compliance plates, VINs, owner’s manuals and any
documentation required for state-based trailer registration; - arrange freight, heavy haulage and crane lifts (including for
shipping containers); - communicate with you about your order, warranty claims, recalls or
safety notices; - respond to enquiries and provide customer support;
- comply with our legal obligations under taxation, consumer
protection, road transport and anti-money-laundering laws; - detect, prevent and investigate fraud or misuse of the Site;
and - with your consent, send you marketing about trailers, containers,
accessories, sales and events.
You can opt out of direct marketing at any time by clicking the
“unsubscribe” link in our emails, replying STOP to SMS marketing, or
contacting us using the details in Section 11.
4. Who we disclose information to
We may disclose your personal information to:
- freight carriers, heavy-haulage operators and crane companies
engaged to deliver your trailer or container; - payment gateways and banks for the purpose of processing payments
and refunds; - finance brokers and lenders if you have applied for finance
through us (only with your consent); - our IT, hosting, email, analytics and customer support providers
(including providers of cloud-based platforms); - state and territory road transport authorities where required for
registration or compliance; - the Australian Taxation Office, ACCC and other regulators where
required by law; - our professional advisors (lawyers, accountants, insurers);
and - a purchaser of our business (in the event of a sale), subject to
confidentiality undertakings.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers (including hosting, email and analytics
providers) store data on servers located outside Australia. The
countries in which your information may be stored or processed include
the United States, the European Union, Singapore, and other locations
where our providers operate. We take reasonable steps to ensure overseas
recipients handle your personal information in accordance with the
APPs.
6. Data security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from
misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification and
disclosure, including the use of SSL/TLS encryption, access controls,
and secure third-party processors.
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to
fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, including to meet any
legal, tax, accounting or reporting obligations (typically a minimum of
7 years for financial records under Australian taxation law).

8. Cookies and analytics
